Revco splits

Although they started off with the lead, and kept it close until half-time, BDO’s four-player lineup eventually ran out of gas in falling 71-48 to Revco in Fort Frances Men’s Basketball League action Tuesday night.
Jeff Campbell and Todd Richards provided almost all the offence for BDO, scoring 21 and 20 points, respectively.
The more balanced scoring of Revco was led by Muskie players Aaron Bujold and Cole Kowalski, who combined for 35 points.
In the night’s second game, Sunset Landscaping pulled away at the end en route to a 50-44 victory over Arctic Cat.
Josh Mastin sparked Sunset with 36 points while Jeremy Strain had 17 to lead Arctic Cat.
Then in an incredibly hard-fought game that saw numerous lead changes, some frustration that resulted in a technical foul, and last-second drama, RRFN hung on for a 68-66 victory over Revco.
John Sivonen’s last-second lay-up attempt just bounced out or the game would have went into overtime.
He finished with a team-high 23 points for Revco while Sam Soderman topped RRFN with 40.
The league is now one-third of the way through the season, and with as many close games as it’s had so far, it definitely should be entertaining the rest of the way.
Action is now on a three-week hiatus due to the Christmas break, with play set to resume Jan. 10 at Fort High.
