Record-seeking curler to be here Saturday

Camille Villeneuve never met a curling rink he didn’t like.
The 75-year-old Chicoutimi, Que. resident will bring his road show to the Fort Frances Curling Club this Saturday (Oct. 11) at 2 p.m. for an exhibition match against local curlers as he brushes his way towards a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Villeneuve is aiming to set two new marks by trying to curl in 500 different clubs with at least 2,500 different players. As of Oct. 1, his accumulated totals stood at 439 clubs and 2,331 players.
His travels already have taken him across the U.S., Scotland, and numerous sites in Canada. He plans to complete his quest when he reaches either the Yukon Territory or Alaska some time next year.
Saturday’s match is open to the public.
People also are encouraged to view Villeneuve’s collection of club pins and crests acquired during his journey, as well as a collection of commemorative albums documenting his record run.
