Rainy River wins PeeWee tourney here

Ryan O’Connor scored the game-winning goal just 45 seconds into overtime to lift the Rainy River Rebels to a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory over the South End Stars (Thunder Bay) in the ‘A’-final of a PeeWee house league tournament here Sunday.
Blake Mykytyn (two), Sam Ernst, and Mitch Goliquer also scored for the Rebels while Tim Stewart (three) and Jay Acourt replied for the Stars.
The Stars reached the final with a 2-1 win over the Volunteer Pool Bearcats while the Rebels got a bye.
Meanwhile, the ‘B’-final saw the Law Association Sharks (Fort Frances) edge the Emo Panthers 2-1. Kevin Tysz and Thane Gerhard each scored for the Sharks.
The Sharks reached the final by doubling the Kentucky Colonels (Fort Frances) 4-2. Justin Sanders scored twice in that win while Eric Marchuk and Gerhard netted singles.
Skylar Van Dulmen and Justin Ring replied for the Colonels.
The Panthers had a bye into the final.
In ‘C’ action, the Lions (Fort Frances) edged Kaemingh Esso 5-4 on the strength of a four-goal, one-assist effort by Terry Kellar although Nathan Robar netted the game-winner.
Tanner Ward (two), Joseph Yerxa, and Brett Perrault replied for Esso.
The Lions had reached the ‘C’-final with a 7-4 win over Emo Gillons’ paced by Kellar’s four goals. Tyler Pocock, Dan Murray, and Tyler Shannon also scored.
Jeremy Hyatt (two), Dillon McGuiness, and Jeff Hyatt replied for Gillons’.
Kaemingh Esso had the bye to the final.
