Rainy River sits atop fastball standings

It was a quiet night in the Rainy River District Fastball League yesterday, with the only game on the schedule a make-up one between International Falls and Sabaskong originally scheduled for May 18.
International Falls (3-3) scored early and often against last-place Sabaskong (1-6) en route to a convincing 18-3 victory.
Derek Bilben led the offensive explosion for the Falls, going deep three times. That moved him into second place in the home run race with four—one behind league leader Bob Andy of Sight & Sound.
Leroy Wilson (2-0) earned the victory to keep his record spotless while Brian Indian (0-1) lost his first decision of the year.
In RRDFL action on Tuesday, Sight & Sound (5-2) suffered their second-straight loss after winning their first five games of the season, falling 6-5 in eight innings to Barwick (4-3).
George Oltsher improved to 3-1 with the win while Bob Andy (2 – 2) was tagged with the loss.
Meanwhile, Rainy River (6-1) took over sole possession of first place by blanking International Falls 5-0. Murray Armstrong (5-1) was dominant on the mound, silencing the Falls’ bats.
Mike Imhof (0-1) took the lost in his first decision of the season.
Big Island (2-5) beat Sabaskong 14-9 in a battle to avoid last place in the league. Charlie Kelly and Will Handorgan both went deep in the victory.
Carl Big George Jr. (1-1) earned the win while John Big George (1-3) was saddled with the loss.
And finally, Big Grassy (2-4) pummelled Stratton (4-3) by a score of 23-7 in the most lopsided league game so far this season.
Bill Copenace, Bob Copenace, and Brian Hook all went deep for Big Grassy.
Jeff Morrison (2-2) earned the victory while Guy Arpin (1-2) took the loss.
The RRDFL resumes regular-season play on Tuesday (June 13) with all eight teams in action.
Sight & Sound will travel to Big Island, Rainy River hosts Big Grassy, Stratton visits Barwick, and International Falls is home to Sabaskong.
All four games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
