Windey’s Warriors left more runners on base than they made defensive miscues, but both totals were way too high to translate into a victory.
The Couchiching Raiders got a strong pitching performance from Mike Jourdain, and plenty of help from the Warriors, en route to a 6-2 win last night in one of four makeup games in the Rainy River District Fastball League.
The Raiders (6-4) scored all their runs off some of the eight errors committed by the Warriors (7-3).
Jourdain bent but didn’t break, escaping from two bases-loaded jams and two other times with two runners in scoring position.
Tyson Williams took the loss—his first of the season.
In other games last night, the first-place Rainy Lake Pirates (9-0) cruised to a 15-6 drubbing of the Sabaskong Cubs (2-7) at VanJura.
The Stratton Bobcats (4-4), meanwhile, blasted the visiting Manitou Thunderbirds (3-6) by a 12-1 count.
And in Big Island, the Huskies (3-5-1) romped to a 23-5 win over the Dawson Tigers (3-7).
In Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League action, the lone game of the night saw the host Manitou Blaze pound the Dawson Diggers 16-2.
Karma Andy earned the win for the Blaze (5-6) while added a home run.
Nicole Medwechuk took the loss for the Diggers (3-6).
Both leagues will play a number of makeup games over the next few days before the second half of the schedule starts next week.
