Fort Frances Junior Curling and Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce have teamed up on a raffle to benefit both groups, with tickets on sale now.
First prize is $2,000 in Chamber gift certificates while the second- and third-place prizes are $1,000 and $500 in gift certificates, respectively.
“This is a method for us to raise money for junior curling,” club spokesperson Bill Gushulak noted yesterday afternoon.
“We wanted the prize to be a little different but at the same time promote local business,” he added. “It’s a positive thing for the community.
“There’s been a favourable response thus far and we’re hoping people, if they haven’t so far, pick them up,” added Gushulak.
Tickets, which cost $5 each, are available at the curling club, Fort Frances General Supply, Sight & Sound, and the Chamber office (across from Safeway).
The draw date is next Saturday (Feb. 4) at 5 p.m. at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
In related news, tickets are still available to see singer-pianist Billy Andrusco in concert at the Townshend Theatre on March 7 at 7:30 p.m., said Gushulak.
Tickets cost $20 each, which are available at the Fort Frances Curling Club Fort Frances General Supply, and Sight & Sound.
Proceeds will to go to the local curling club.
