Provincial Bantam curling finals all set to go

A local team and one from Stratton will be among the 12 rinks vying for the provincial Bantam boys’ and girls’ curling crowns, which get underway tonight at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
The top boys’ and girls’ rink then will advance to the Ontario Winter Games coming up March 6-9 in Collingwood.
Opening ceremonies are planned for 7:30 p.m., followed by the first draw at 8:15 p.m.
The Fort Frances rink of skip Tirzah Keffer, vice-skip Samantha Mueller, second Kathleen Murray, and lead Megan Murray will play their first game against the Jones rink (Port Arthur Curling Club).
Meanwhile, the Jared McQuaker rink from Stratton (also featuring vice-skip Cody Heyens, second Cody Ossachuk, and lead Ben Miller) will open action in the boys’ division against the Wark rink (Fort William Curling Club).
Draw two is set for 9 a.m. of Friday, with the Keffer rink taking on the Westlund rink (Port Arthur Curling Club) and the McQuaker foursome going up against the Gosselin rink (Idylwylde Golf and Curling Club).
Draw three takes place at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, followed by the fourth draw at 7:30 p.m.
Play continues with the fifth draw Saturday morning, with the finals beginning at 7:30 p.m. that night.
