Plea issued for bass tourney help

Sign-up set for on-site Wednesday.
The Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship wants you.
With the premier fishing tournament coming up here next week, volunteers still are needed for some tasks.
And the perfect time to get involved is an on-site volunteer sign-up this Wednesday (July 20) from 4-6:30 p.m.
It’s no secret volunteers are the lifeblood of the annual event, and FFCBC volunteer director Nicke Paddock said helping hands are needed for site clean-up, especially on the Sunday (July 24).
People also are needed to work the door ID’ing people on the Thursday and Saturday nights.
Some volunteers may get handpicked to do other, more specific tasks suited to their skills, Paddock added.
Other jobs, such as working the bar, already are filled up.
Paddock said the time commitment for volunteers is flexible and the social nature of the event makes the time fly.
“Most of the shifts are four or five hours,” she noted.
“[But] it’s a fun one to volunteer at,” she added. “There’s music and entertainment.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and it’s a perfect way for high school students to accumulate the volunteer hours needed to graduate.
Paddock said this Wednesday is the best time to sign up, as volunteers also can pick up their FFCBC volunteer T-shirt at the same time.
If you have any questions or can’t make it to the sign-up evening, text Paddock at 271-4890.
