PeeWees win first home game

The local KC PeeWee rep team got their season off on a winning note here Sunday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over the Atikokan Flyers.
Josh Sigurdson, assisted by Cody Dittaro, opened up the scoring with 15:16 left in the first period. Then, with just over five minutes left, Jared Catholique-Bruyere netted an unassisted goal to put the KCs up 2-0.
But the Flyers roared back. After getting a goal late in the first period from Chris Johnson (assisted by Steve Sus), Sus made it 2-2 less than 20 seconds into the second frame.
Tyler Miller, assisted by Paul Dobransky, gave the KCs the lead again less than a minute later but Atikokan fought back once again and tied the score at 3-3 on a goal by Steve Bryk (assisted by Sus and Zach Halwachs).
But it was all KCs after that. Dittaro (from Dobransky) and then Larry Pham (from Dittaro) scored less than two minutes apart late in the second period to make it 5-3.
David Pierce (assisted by Dobransky) iced the game with the lone goal of the third period.
The Fort squad was whistled for four minor penalties, including three in the second period, while Atikokan was handed seven.
The KCs will play in seven tournaments this season, starting with one in Atikokan on Nov. 3-5.
