The Northwestern Ontario All-Stars PeeWee ‘AAA’ team, which boasts a solid local contingent, is in tough early in the round-robin of the 2010 all-Ontario championship.
The All-Stars, featuring Fort Frances products Tyler VanUden, Jared Bethune, Brandon Bodnar, Carter Brown, and Claire Sandelovich, lost both games Monday by 6-1 scores, falling to the host Huron-Perth Lakers in the morning and then to the Sun County Panthers that afternoon.
Then yesterday, the All-Stars fell to 0-3 with an 8-0 drubbing at the hands of the Toronto Marlboros.
The All-Stars saw action twice today (against the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs and Gloucester Rangers), then will round out the round-robin portion tomorrow afternoon against the Nickel City Sons.
The top four teams will advance to the playoff round, with No. 1 facing No. 4 and No. 2 versus No. 3.
The two winners will advance to Saturday’s final.
