After just missing out on a berth in the final due to goal differential, the Fort Frances PeeWee ‘AA’ Canadians made sure they finished on a winning note.
The locals nipped Eveleth-Gilbert 2-1 in overtime Sunday in the third-place game of a tournament in International Falls.
Brett Hahkala scored the game-winning goal for the Canadians while Cole Tymkin notched the other goal in regulation time.
Matti Booth, meanwhile, was strong between the pipes.
In the round-robin portion, the Canadians opened with an 8-5 loss to host International Falls on Friday night but then rebounded to beat the Lake of the Woods Bears 5-1 and Eveleth-Gilbert 6-3 on Saturday.
Hahkala was the pace-setter in both those games as he netted a pair of hat tricks.
