It’s been a tight race in the Borderland Racing Association’s points standings so far between Gavin Paull and Brody Strachan.
This time it was Paull who came out on top over Strachan, claiming the checkered flag in the WISSOTA Modifieds division at the Emo Speedway on Saturday night for his second feature win of the season.
The Fort Frances native also leapfrogged Emo’s Strachan for first overall in the points standings with 412.
Strachan, who claimed his third top-five finish of the season, sits four back with 408.
Jamie Davis of Devlin finished in third place Saturday night while his brother, Jeff, was just behind him.
Jeff Davis sits in third in the standings (400 points) while Jamie is eighth (208).
Cody Ossachuk of Fort Frances also nabbed his second feature win of the season by taking the checkered flag in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds on Saturday night.
Tanner Williamson of Fort Frances finished second while Wyatt Boyum of International Falls was third.
James Lambert of Fort Frances came in fourth.
With the win, Ossachuk (438 points) increased his lead in the division to 29 over Devlin’s Dayton Brady (393), who finished 12th in Saturday night’s race.
Lambert is third with 377 points, followed by Bob Gaudet of Thunder Bay in fourth (356).
Jake Froemke of International Falls, meanwhile, earned his first win of the season in the Street Stocks division, claiming the checkered flag over Tylar Wilson of Fort Frances to end his three-race winning streak.
Raice Westover of Fort Frances placed third while Thunder Bay’s David Caruk was fourth.
Despite the loss, Wilson still holds a healthy 67-point lead over Westover in the division standings (438-371).
Jesse Thompson of Emo sits in third place (369).
Racing resumes this Saturday at the Emo Speedway, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first heat at 7:30 (weather permitting).
