Local swimmer Alex Parent, 15, has been named to Team Ontario.
This means the member of the Fort Frances Aquanauts will represent the province at the Canada Games in Regina in August in the Paralympic division.
Parent competed with two other clubmates, Jessica Lowey and Nichole Lowey, at the Junior Provincial Short Course meet at the Nepean Sportsplex (near Ottawa).
Here are their results (P indicates a preliminary race and F indicates a final):
•Alex Parent (15)—50m free F (1st place, 29.57), 50m free P (1st, 30.06), 200m free P (1st, 2:20.40), 200m free F (1st, 2:41.03), 100m back P (2nd, 1:14.76), 100m back F (2nd, 1:14.76), 100m fly P (1st, 1:15.39), 100m fly F (1st, 1:15.39), 100m free P (1st, 1:03.69), 100m free F (1st, 1:03.40), 400m free F (1st, 4:55.86), and 50m fly (1st, 33.28);
•Jessica Lowey (11)—200m breast F (15th, 3:08.97), 400m IM F (No Placing, 6:23.82), 200m IM (NP, 2:54.81), and 100m breast F (13th, 1:28.35); and
•Nichole Lowey (13)—200m breast P (12th, 2:58.12), 50m free P (28th, 32.92), 100m breast P (11th, 1:21.75), and 200m IM P (25th, 2:53.97).
