Parent earns second-place finish in race

Two Aquanauts are returning home from the Western Canadian Junior Nationals in Vancouver with very different results.
Alex Parent and Heather Dutton each competed in several events there, but Parent captured second place in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:57.46—and never placed lower than fifth in any of his other races.
Dutton’s best finish, on the other hand, was 34th in the 100m butterfly with a time of 1:09.88.
Aquanauts coach Roman Ramirez had said before they left for Vancouver that Parent would swim his best in the 400m freestyle while Dutton’s best stroke was the butterfly.
The pair will return to practice at the Memorial Sports Centre pool here before leaving next week for OFSAA and the junior provincial championships in Etobicoke.
