Amber Jourdain and Alexis Perreault had to declare something a little extra in their luggage for the trip home from Nova Scotia.
The Couchiching duo were part of the silver medal-winning squad from Team Ontario, which fell 3-2 to Saskatchewan on Saturday in the final of the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Halifax.
Neither local player saw action in the final.
Jourdain was sidelined by concussion symptoms caused earlier in the week when she was struck in the head by a puck.
Perreault, meanwhile, had missed time after blocking a shot in an earlier game but finished the week as a healthy scratch.
Perreault finished the tournament with two assists while Jourdain had one.
Ontario, ranked second at the tournament, went 3-0 to win Division II.
Then they beat eighth-ranked Team North 6-1 in the quarter-finals and fourth-seeded Alberta 3-1 in the semis.
But top-ranked Saskatchewan raced out to a 3-0 lead by 17:35 of the second period of Saturday’s final, then held off an Ontario rally to capture the gold.
