NorWOSSA postponed due to weather

The Fort Frances Muskies boys basketball and girls volleyball teams will have to wait a little while longer to battle it out for NorWOSSA court supremacy, as today’s scheduled “AA” championship games in Kenora were postponed due to poor weather conditions.
According to a statement posted on the Beaver Brae Secondary School web site this morning, the championships have now been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 22.
After rain quickly turned to ice as the temperature plummeted on yesterday evening, the Ontario Provincial Police closed the Highway 17A bypass at Kenora just before 11:30 p.m., with traffic being re-routed through Kenora from both the east and west junctions of Highway 17/17A until 5:45 a.m.
The conditions also led to the cancellation of all school buses for the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board, along with the cancellation of charter buses from Dryden for the NorWOSSA event today.
Both the senior and junior girls volleyball team, along with the Muskies junior boys basketball squad, were set to compete against the host Kenora Broncos in the semi-finals today, while the senior boys basketball team was waiting to face the winner of the Dryden Eagles and Broncos semi-final contest in the title game.
