The Thunder Bay North Stars announced yesterday they were parting ways after two seasons with head coach Jeremy Adduono, who just was named the league’s coach of the year.
The Thunder Bay Chronicle-Journal reported today that Adduono sent a text to the newspaper, stating, “At this time it’s in both of our best interest to part ways.”
“I’m thankful for having the opportunity to coach at the Junior ‘A’ level . . . I would like to wish the North Stars’ organization and the new coaching staff the best of luck moving forward.”
Adduono guided an injury-riddled team to fourth place during the regular season with a 27-25-4 record after going 45-11 in his first campaign behind the bench last year.
Thunder Bay swept the English River Miners in the first round of the playoffs, but then were ousted by the Lakers in five games in the semi-finals.
Adduono was replaced by fellow Thunder Bay native Gary Wenzel.
