It was a bad night down by the bay.
Jordan Elliott recorded 30 saves as the host Thunder Bay North Stars blanked the Fort Frances Lakers 4-0 in SIJHL action last night.
With the win, the second-place North Stars (25-13-3) snapped a four-game losing skid while improving to 8-1 in their season series with the Lakers (18-17-2-3).
After a scoreless first period, Tyler Minoletti tallied at 5:28 of the second.
Brad Thrower then delivered a dagger with a short-handed goal with just one second left in the period.
Brad Arabia and Jake Robinson iced the win with goals 52 seconds apart just past the midway mark of the third.
Jessie Heisz had 24 stops for the Lakers.
Fort Frances missed a chance to move ahead of the fourth-place English River Miners (19-18-1-3), who fell 4-1 to the first-place Dryden GM Ice Dogs (33-4-4).
The Lakers will get another chance to pass the Miners tomorrow when the two teams clash at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
The home-and-home series then wraps up Saturday night in Red Lake.
