North Star Stampede all set to go in Effie

Press Release

Is Minnesota’s largest open contest rodeo
The town of Effie, Mn. is gearing up for its biggest weekend of the year as the North Star Stampede, Minnesota’s largest open contest rodeo, is set to go.
Excitement is running high as more than 250 cowboys and cowgirls from eight states and Canada will compete for some $10,000 in prize money and sterling silver trophy buckles in each event.
Clowning the rodeo this year will be Randy “Slipknot” Scheidler, a 19-year professional rodeo clown from Isanti, Mn.
The North Star Stampede will be leasing bulls from Joe Berger of Mandan, N.D. this year to supplement the bucking bulls of the North Star Rodeo Co.
Berger owns more than 300 bulls, hauling them to nearly every PBR event, including the national finals in Las Vegas.
He also is the owner of three-time PBR bucking bull of the year, “Little Yellow Jacket.”
Jason Lenzen, a six-time bareback riding champion, will be back again this year to try and win another buckle.
As well, Laura Carter, from Orr, Mn., and Soni Mortenson of International Falls, Mn., both four-time barrel racing champs, will be running again.
Former bull riding champion Jeremy Rankin, from Platte, S.D., also will be back to try his hand against the tough Berger bulls.
The action gets underway this Friday (July 29) at 5 p.m., and continues Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. both days.
Parking is free but there is no deep well on the rodeo grounds, so spectators are urged to bring their own water.
