The SIJHL announced Monday that Thief River Falls Norskies’ captain Bryce Johnson has been named its Play It Again Sports Player-of-the-Week for the period ending Jan. 26.
In a trio of Thief River Falls victories last week, the 19-year-old from Roseau, Mn., racked up six points to pace his club offensively.
Highlighting his efforts was notching his second career hat trick, featuring the game-winning goal, and adding an assist on Saturday as the Norskies defeated the Fort Frances Lakers in front of a SIJHL single-game-record crowd of 3,049 at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Boasting a dozen multi-point performances so far this season, Johnson leads Thief River Falls in offensive production this season with 45 points in 36 games, including 18 tallies.
He also sits third overall in league scoring.
Nine games shy of 100 in his time in the SIJHL, he also requires just five points to reach the century mark, having already collected 37 goals and 58 assists in total.
Also earning consideration for player-of-the-week honours were Hunter Adams, (goalie) Wisconsin Lumberjacks; Seth McKay, (goalie) Thunder Bay North Stars; Jordan Baranesky, (forward) Red Lake Miners; Xavier Halterman, (forward) Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Matthew Dyck, (defenceman) Fort Frances Lakers.
