Nolan to headline all-star luncheon

Former NHL coach Ted Nolan will be the guest speaker at the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s all-star luncheon at noon Tuesday at the Red Dog Inn.
The luncheon, sponsored by DJ Roach Electric and the Fort Frances Chiefs Advisory Services, will kick off all-star game festivities.
About 100 tickets, costing $20 each, have been printed for the luncheon and are only available from Thunder players.
Nolan, a former NHL coach of the year with the Buffalo Sabres in 1997 and currently a professional sports consultant for the Assembly of First Nations, travels across the country speaking to aboriginal youth about education, substance abuse and self-esteem.
“The name speaks for itself,” said Borderland Thunder vice-president Sam Bruyere. “He’s a great guy. I’ve had the opportunity to meet him. I’m sure he’ll have good things to say.”
The inaugural SIJHL all-star game will pit the league’s top players against the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Tickets cost $10 each, which are available at Skates and Blades here and the C.C. Complex at Couchiching.
