A group of former pro hockey players with a hefty list of combined accomplishments will be lacing up the blades here this fall.
Legends All Stars Hockey Events announced earlier today a team of past NHL stars is slated to take on a team of local players in a charity exhibition game on Oct. 19 at the Ice For Kids Arena.
Known as the “Slap Shots & Boot Stompin’ Tour,” the squad will be coached by Hall-of-Famer Marcel Dionne, a mainstay of the L.A. Kings’ “Triple Crown Line” of the 1980s.
Dionne is the sixth-highest scorer in NHL history with 1,771 points.
Also taking the ice will be, among others, four-time Stanley Cup champ Mike Krushelnyski, Rick Vaive, the first Toronto Maple Leaf to score 50 goals in a season, and Vancouver Canucks’ great Cliff Ronning.
A musical addition to the roster is Canadian country singer Aaron Pritchett.
Pritchett is a multiple-time Canadian Country Music Association award winner who is up for Male Artist of the Year and Video of the Year at this year’s CCMAs on Sept. 10 in Saskatoon.
The Vancouver native will perform at a meet-and-greet “kitchen party” at the Legion here after the game along with his son, Jordan, as well as Nova Scotia country singer Kevin Davison.
The event will be open to the public.
Meanwhile, there are 15 available spots on the roster for the local team and six more on the “legends” squad, with details to come on how local residents can join the rosters.
A hockey clinic for youth will be put on by the “legends” earlier in the day, along with a visit to a still-to-be determined local school.
Details on tickets sales will be announced at a later date.
