Nice weather and the first Saturday race of the Rendezvous Yacht Club’s season brougth more sailboats onto the lake last week.
In fact, it was the first Wednesday night race for four out of the six captains who participated.
And two of those four captured the top places, with Ron Bowman’s “In Tune” crew finishing just ahead of Jack Bartlett’s “Mad Hatter.”
The captains naviagted an Olympic Triangle course in strong winds blowing 15-20 knots from the south-southwest. Bowman finished in 20.64 minutes while Bartlett completed the course in 21.97.
Closing out the fleet were Quinn McCarthy, Tim Mack, Jas Spencer, and Eric Rude.
Anyone interested in learning more about sailing is urged to join the RYC for its “Community Sail” at the docks at La Place Rendez-Vous and in Ranier at 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday through July 12.
The program is free.
