The water is just about right for the Cyclone Swim Club.
Last week, the new local club received approval from Swim Ontario to become a full-fledged member and is set to join the Northwest circuit this coming season, head coach Debbie Murray said.
The Cyclones join the Aquanauts as the second swim club in Fort Frances.
Getting pool time at the Memorial Sports Centre, something Murray said was a major hurdle in getting the new club of the ground, also has been arranged.
“We wanted to make sure we didn’t interrupt the Aquanauts’ schedule,” said Murray, who was head coach of the Aquanauts from 1987-2001.
Parent organizer Dawnn Taylor added final pool times should be nailed down by next week.
Since starting up last month, the club has labelled itself as being an alternative for younger, developing swimmers. It’s since put together an executive and has 20 swimmers who have expressed interest in joining.
The club’s next meeting is slated July 17, with the official membership drive beginning in September followed by in-pool training.
“Things are looking good for the fall,” said Murray.
