Big ‘D’ was a big downer for the Muskie court teams.
Fort High left Dryden with just one win in four matches against the host Eagles in its second NorWOSSA outing of the season Tuesday.
That sole triumph belonged to the junior girls’ basketball squad, which went from a tight first quarter to a walkaway 49-36 victory.
Grace Petsnick led the Muskies (2-0) with 12 points.
The senior girls’ squad (1-1) weren’t as fortunate, losing in heart-breaking fashion 26-25 to the Eagles.
Top scorers weren’t available by press time.
The Muskies trailed 18-9 at the half, but battled back to tie the game late before a foul shot by Monica Tourond with just under four seconds left provided the margin of victory.
Meanwhile, both Muskie boys’ volleyball teams were swept by the host Eagles on Tuesday.
In senior play, Dryden prevailed 25-20, 25-22 and 25-22 over the Muskies (1-1).
The Muskie junior boys (0-2) fell 25-11, 25-12, and 25-13.
All four squads resume league action this Tuesday in Kenora before hosting Dryden next Thursday (Oct. 6).
