Muskies win championship!

Friday in Dryden the Fort Frances Muskies upset the previously unbeaten Dryden Eagles 14 – 3 to win the NORWASSA football championship.

The Muskie defense shut down Dryden’s high flying passing attack throughout the game. The Eagles scored a single on the opening kickoff. In the second quarter and took a 3 nothing lead when the Muskies conceded a safety after a bad snap on a 3rd down punt.

Just before halftime the Muskies scored on a one-yard run by senior quarterback Gabe Hyatt. Senior running back Darius Brenna ran in the 2 point convert to extend the Muskies lead to 8 – 3 at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter the Muskies extended their lead to 14 – 3 when Brenna scored on a brilliant 70-yard run. The 2-point convert failed. The Muskie defense held Dryden off the scoreboard the rest of the way to earn the championship. The players and coaches would like to thank the loud group of over 100 supporters who traveled to Dryden to cheer the team to victory.
