The Muskie boys’ hockey team continued its early-season roll, romping to a gold medal at a tournament in Morden, Man. over the weekend.
The weekend culminated with a 7-1 win over Mountain in the final.
Nik Jourdain, Brendan Cawston, and Colton Spicer had two goals apiece while Jeff Davis snagged the other one.
Fort High opened the tournament with a 7-2 win over Pembina on Friday.
Cawston chipped in two in that one, with Jourdain, Davis, Nick Kaun, Brett McMahon, and Tarran Romyn adding singles.
Then on Friday night, the Muskies knocked off host Morden 3-1 on goals from Kaun, Spicer, and Chris Bobczynski.
The black-and-gold advanced to the final by doubling Kenora 4-2.
Robbie Rea led the attack with a pair of goals while Cawston and Spicer notched singles.
The Muskies will open the NorWOSSA regular season tomorrow night in Dryden against the Eagles.
Meanwhile, the Muskie girls’ team was in action over the weekend, routing the host Sioux Lookout Warriors 12-3 to earn its first win of the season.
Fort High (1-2) got four goals from Jillian Langtry and two each from Katie Sinclair and Shae-lynn Smith.
Danielle Jean, Taylor Dixon, Alyssa Penner, and Nicole Horn added singles.
Dana Cridland earned the win in goal.
The Warriors stayed close in the early going, trailing just 3-2 after one period. But Fort High outscored Sioux Lookout 6-1 in the second and never looked back.
The Muskie girls continue NorWOSSA play tomorrow when the Dryden Eagles visit the Ice For Kids Arena for a 7:15 p.m. start.
