Muskies to play exhibition games

As a tune-up for their trip to the all-Ontarios in Windsor later this month, the Muskie boys’ hockey team will play an exhibition game against the Western District Taggs Bantam ‘AAA’ team tomorrow night.
Game time is set for 6:45 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
The black-and-gold also are slated to play an exhibition game against Hopper’s Bruins (a local men’s team) next Tuesday (March 22) at 6:45 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
“To have 10 practices in a row without any action would be really stale so in order to stay sharp, we set up these games and it’s great timing for us to have these games,” said Muskie head coach Shane Bliss.
The regional Bantam ‘AAA’ team, made of mostly of players from the local Bantam ‘AA’ squad and coached by Mark McCaig, also will be using tomorrow night’s game as a tune-up.
They are playing in an Bantam ‘AAA’ tournament here this weekend.
The Thunder Bay Bantam ‘AAA’ Kings and the Eastern District team also will be facing off for a chance to play in the provincial championship.
Usually only the top team advances to the provincials, but since this year’s championship is being held in Thunder Bay, a second berth is up for grabs.
Taggs will face the Kings on Friday at 6:45 p.m., Saturday will see the Kings versus the Eastern team at 8:15 a.m., then Taggs and the Eastern team will collide at 6:45 p.m.
The championship game is slated for Sunday at 1:15 p.m. (all games will be played at the Ice for Kids Arena).
