The Fort Frances Hugh School Muskies will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1996 football team’s NorWOSSA Championship victory on Friday, Oct. 9.
As part of the celebration, members of the historic 1996 squad will return to the field as honorary game captains, joining the current Muskie team captains at midfield for the official coin toss before the 3 p.m. kickoff of the homecoming game against the Churchill Bulldogs.

The bout will be the Muskies’ final home game of the season.
Former Muskie players, coaches, equipment managers and officials are invited to wear their old jerseys, jackets and hats to cheer on the current team. The alumni section on the north side of the yellow canopy will be a dedicated area for all former players to relive the glory days and support the Muskies.
Bob Swing, head coach of the 1996 Muskies, is currently an assistant coach with the University of British Columbia T-Birds, and unfortunately, their game schedule will not permit him to attend homecoming, organizers said.
The Touchdown Club will also be on hand at the concession area, offering snacks and refreshments. All proceeds will support the Muskie football program.
At halftime, former Muskies coaches, players and managers will gather for a special team photo to commemorate the occasion.
After the final whistle, all fans, former players, coaches and managers are invited to the Fort Frances Legion on Church Street to continue the celebration and reminisce about lifelong friendships with Muskie teammates.
