Muskies to duel Dryden tonight

One team wants to keep their streak alive, the other wants to break the one they’re on.
The Muskies boys’ and girls’ hockey teams are on opposite ends of the NorWOSSA standings, but have the same goal heading into tonight’s match-ups on the road against the Dryden Eagles.
The male Muskies are perched atop NorWOSSA with an 8-0 record, including a 4-3 overtime win against the Kenora Broncos in their last league game Dec. 10.
Meanwhile, the girls’ squad still is searching for its first NorWOSSA victory this season, absorbing a 14-1 loss to the Broncos here Dec. 13 to run their league record to 0-5.
But this past Tuesday saw a reversal of fortune for both versions of the black-and-gold.
While the boys are coming off of a heart-breaking 4-3 exhibition loss to Baudette, with the Bears netting the game-winner with just 0.6 seconds left in regulation time, the girls are riding the wave of a 3-2 overtime exhibition win against the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints (Kenora).
In their only meeting so far this season, the male Muskies edged Dryden 4-3 at the ’52 Canadians Arena, with Terry Kellar scoring the winning goal.
The female Muskies were smothered 11-3 by their Eagles counterparts in the season-opener here Nov. 12, but performed significantly better in a 3-0 loss in Dryden two days later.
The boys’ next NorWOSSA action will be Jan. 10 in Kenora, while the girls will be home to Dryden on Jan. 7 after participating in the Holiday Cup tournament in Blaine, Mn. next week.
