Muskies sweep Dryden for NorWOSSA gold

The Muskies beat the Dryden Eagles 6-3 there Sunday night to sweep their best-of-three NorWOSSA final and advance to the all-Ontarios in Burlington later this month.
The black-and-gold had opened the series here Friday night with an 8-0 triumph.
“It was a tough game, very physical,” head coach Glen Edwards said of Sunday night’s contest in Dryden. “I think they lost discipline in the third period.”
But he was quick to note his players handled themselves well.
“Everyone remained well-disciplined,” he stressed, adding Cole Hayward played an extremely physical game.
“He got a few penalties, which didn’t help much, but Cole doesn’t back down for anybody,” Edwards said.
Kevin Webb led the attack with a pair of goals, with Jeff Savage, Adam McTavish, Kris Esselink, and Steve Niskala adding singles.
McTavish was the star in Friday night’s offensive outburst, scoring three goals to pace the black-and-gold. David Lloyd added a pair while Webb, Niskala, and Donald Kellar netted singles.
“It wasn’t as rough as last night–Dryden came out hard,” Edwards noted of the opener here Friday night.
But it was the Muskies who led 3-0 after the first period and 5-0 through two.
The Muskies will play in the new ‘A/AA’ division at the all-Ontarios, which is slated March 20-22 in Burlington (near Oakville).
