Muskies sweep Broncos

The Muskie hockey program picked up a pair of wins over the Kenora Broncos in NorWOSSA action last night at the Memorial Sports Centre here.
The girls’ squad (4-4-1) doubled the visitors 6-3—avenging last week’s 5-4 loss to those same Broncos (3-6-1) up there.

Katie Stearns earned the win between the pipes.
The Muskie girls are now two points clear of the Broncos for second place in the NorWOSSA standings while trailing the first-place Dryden Eagles by just three points.
Meanwhile, the Muskie boys’ team (14-0-1) remained undefeated in league play courtesy of their 8-0 thrashing over the winless Broncos (0-13).
The black-and-gold got two goals apeice from Brian Glavish, Riley Caul, and Kevin Bobczynski . Taylor Jorgenson and Matt Hebert rounded out the scoring.
Jorgenson’s goal was his 11th in NorWOSSA play so far this season, putting him in second second place in the goal-scoring race behind Red Lake’s Peter Martone, who has lit the lamp 14 times.
Rich Wieringa earned the shutout in.
Both teams resume NorWOSSA play Friday night (Feb. 9) against Red Lake at the Emo-La Vallee Arena.
