Muskies still winless

The black-and-gold were left black and blue.
The Muskie football team came up empty on offence for the second-straight game in a 37-0 loss to the Daniel McIntyre Maroons in WHSFL action Friday in Winnipeg.
“Guys aren’t showing up to practice and guys don’t know what they’re doing on the field,” said head coach Mike Cuzzolino, who only had 22 players available to start the game.
The squad then lost wide receivers Serene Whitecrow (head) and Dylon Woolsey (shoulder) during the rout.
“We don’t win the games by just showing up on Fridays,” Cuzzolino stressed.
“We win by practising hard all week.
“If we don’t practice, we don’t play well,” he reasoned.
Following a 34-0 defeat in Brandon to the Neelin Spartans in their previous outing, the Muskies (0-4) looked anything but rested coming off their bye week against the Maroons (1-3) in a battle of winless teams.
The hosts grabbed a 14-0 lead after one quarter, then scored three majors in the second to make it 34-0 at halftime.
The Muskies will try to break into the win column this Friday when they visit the equally-struggling Kenora Broncos (0-5), who lost 20-0 to the St. Norbert Celtics (4-1) on Friday.
Fort High then closes out the regular season with this year’s “Homecoming” game on Oct. 21 against the Currie Division-leading Dryden Eagles (5-0).
