Muskies seeded 12th for OFSAA hockey tourney

The Muskies have been seeded 12th for the 20-team all-Ontario high school boys’ hockey championship, which runs March 22-25 here and in Emo.
The black-and-gold are in Pool ‘D’ with the Birchmount Park Panthers from Toronto (ranked fourth), defending champs Michael Power/St. Joseph’s of Etobicoke (fifth), 13th-seeded Uxbridge Tigers (Uxbridge), and the 20th-seeded St. Matthew’s Tigers (Ottawa/Orleans).
St. Michael’s College from Toronto, which won OFSAA gold in 2004, snagged the top ranking heading into this year’s showdown.
The Mount Carmel Crusaders (Mississauga), who captured provincial titles in 2002 and 2003, are ranked second this year, with the Grand River Renegades seeded third.
The Muskies kick off the all-Ontarios next Wednesday (March 22) against Birchmount at 10:30 a.m. in the Ice for Kids Arena.
Fort High will face Uxbridge in Emo on Thursday (March 23) at 10 a.m., then travel back to Fort Frances to play St. Matthew’s at 6 p.m. in the Ice for Kids Arena.
The squad will wrap up pool play on Friday (March 24) at noon in the Ice for Kids Arena against Michael Power/St. Joseph’s.
The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarter-finals next Friday starting at 6 p.m.
The first semi-final game is scheduled for Saturday (March 25) at 9 a.m., with the second one going at 11 a.m.
The bronze-medal game will get underway at 6 p.m., followed by the gold-medal game at 8 p.m.
All games on the Saturday will take place at the Ice for Kids Arena.
