Muskies run in Kenora

A pair of junior runners made inroads at the first cross-country meet of the season yesterday in Kenora.
Racing in the late-September sunshine, ninth-graders Jack Hamilton and Dante Tookenay finished third and fourth, respectively.
Both were in their eventual finishing positions at the halfway point of the 5.2-km race.
Tookenay was in a tougher position, though, but he was able to hold off a runner in pursuit by staying strong during uphill sections of the trail, according to Muskie coach Natasha Shack.
Shack also noted Dexter Fichuk and Christina Vandermeer posted strong performances in the team’s first action on the trail.
Fort High will be back in action Oct. 8 in Dryden, with the regional meet scheduled for Oct. 20 in Thunder Bay.
