Muskies romp over Red Lake

Surprise, surprise, the Muskie boys’ hockey team won again by routs.
The black-and-gold visited Red Lake for a pair of weekend games and destroyed the Rams 14-0 and 13-0.
“There was more balanced scoring this weekend,” noted Muskie head coach Glen Edwards. “The scoring was spread over two lines in the first game and over three for the second.”
Meanwhile, Kevin Webb netted five goals for a total of 72 to eclipse Gib Tucker’s team record for most goals in a season. The unbeaten Muskies wrap up the regular season this Friday in Dryden.
Edwards noted they won’t be doing anything different in practice to prepare for the final game. “We will do the same old stuff we have been doing all year,” he said.
He also hoped the game will be must closer than the 14-0 shellacking the Muskies handed the Eagles here last Tuesday night.
“It’s always a closer game when you go to someone else’s rink,” Edwards reasoned.
Edwards also noted the battle for fourth place is still between Red Lake and Sioux Lookout, the winner of whom will face the Muskies in the best-of-three NorWOSSA semi-finals.
But Edwards is hoping Sioux Lookout claims the final playoff spot so the black-and-gold won’t have to travel so far for the second game of the series.
The other semi-final will pit second-place Dryden against third-place Kenora.
