Muskies rolling along

Jarred Taylor has had a three-day stretch that would have fit in perfectly with Wayne Gretzky’s legendary season as a 10-year-old.
Taylor fired five goals to pace the Muskie boys’ hockey team to a 12-1 wipeout of the host Sioux Lookout Warriors today.
Bantam ‘AA’ call-up Sullivan Shortreed made an impact with a hat trickf for the Fort (10-0).
His brother, Spencer, also scored along with Tyler VanUden, Hunter Koles and Graeme Kitt.
Dylan Ossachuk got the win in goal.
Taylor scored a hat trick to lead the Muskie boys’ hockey team to a 6-3 win over the Warriors in the first of the two-game NorWOSSA series last night.
Max Williams, Kitt and Koles also scored for Fort High while Jordan Carlson earned the win in goal.
The Muskies jumped on the bus after this morning’s game to head to Dryden to face the Eagles tonight.
The black-and-gold were coming off a pair of routs over the visiting Red Lake Rams—winning 20-0 on Friday night and 21-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor and VanUden put Darryl Sittler’s NHL record of 10 points in a game to shame as the linemates piled up 13 points apiece in Friday’s win.
Taylor had five goals while VanUden and Brent Jourdain each netted four.
McGuire tacked on two goals as part of an eight-point night. Carter Brown also had a pair, with Sam Tibbs and Williams adding singles.
Carlson was barely tested in earning the shutout.
Then on Saturday, the Muskies looked primed to take a run at the team’s all-time goal-scoring record for one game of 25, set back in the 1972-73 season.
Leading 17-0 after the second, the Muskies scored three times in the first seven minutes of the third before calling off the dogs.
Taylor, VanUden, and McGuire each had eight points in that one, with Taylor sniping seven goals while McGuire racked up five.
Koles lit the lamp four times, Matt Cheetham scored twice, and VanUden, Tibbs, and Kitt notched singles.
Dylan Ossachuk cruised to the shutout.
After tonight’s showdown in Dryden, the Muskies will get a bit of a breather following their stretch of five games in four days.
They’ll next host the Detroit Lakes Lakers (Mn.) in an exhibition contest Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
