The Muskies exploded for three goals in the third period en route to a 6-3 victory this morning against the Regiopolis-Notre Dame Panthers in their first game at the all-Ontarios in Sudbury.
The Panthers jumped on the scoreboard first just over a minute into the game when Adam Deszpoth beat Muskie starter Blake Carlson.
But the Muskies roared back less than three minutes later when Adam McTavish scored unassisted on a nice individual effort.
The black-and-gold went up 2-1 later in the period when Ross Anderson was set up by Steve Keesic and McTavish but the Panthers tied the game with just over a minute to go on a power play goal by Dave Best.
The teams traded second-period goals. After Tom Rose (assisted by Anderson and Keesic) put the Muskies up 3-2, Edward Coffey got the Panthers back on even terms.
But it was all Fort Frances in the third as Anderson (with his second unassisted tally), Keesic (assisted by McTavish and Lorne Koski), and Chris Kellar (from Kevin Webb and Cole Hayward) iced the victory.
Carlson made 24 saves in goal.
The Muskies played the St. Pius X-Men (Ottawa) this afternoon, then they round out pool play tomorrow against Essex (9 a.m. CST) and St. Benedict (3:30 p.m. CST).
