Muskies heading to OFSAA

The Muskie boys’ hockey team beat the Dryden Eagles 5-2 there yesterday to sweep the best-ofthree NorWOSSA final and advance to the all-Ontarios later this month in London.
“We’re pretty excited,” said Muskie head coach Shane Bliss.
“The boys really deserve this after the season they had.”^Mike Niskala (Greg Flewelling) opened the scoring in the first period of yesterday’s game, with Josh Sigurdson (Tyler Miller), Justin Larson (Kurtis Wepruk/Jacob Esselink), and Terry Kellar (unassisted) adding second-period goals.
Steven Sus (David Pierce/Alex McQuarrie) iced the win with a goal midway through the third.
The Eagles scored both their goals in the third.
The Muskies opened the series here Friday with a 2-1 win on a goal by Mark Kellar (Sus/Jordan Bale) with just seconds to go in regulation time in the third.
Pierce (Larson) had given the black-and-gold a 1-0 lead in the first. Devin Stansfield netted the Eagles’ lone goal in the third.
The all-Ontarios are slated March 24-27. It will be the team’s first trip to OFSAA since 2000- 2001, when they won gold.
Bliss hopes to organize a couple of games with local men’s teams to keep his squad in shape in the interim.
“Practice can get stale if you do it for too long,” he remarked.
No other teams have been determined for OFSAA yet.
