The Muskie football team’s start to the WHSFL season has been delayed.
The black-and-gold had to cancel their season-opener against the Churchill Bulldogs in Winnipeg on Friday after FFHS administrators felt not enough players had received adequate practice time.
“We had to forfeit our first game due to lack of players at practice and inadequate practice time for our rookie players,” noted Muskie head coach Mike Cuzzolino.
As such, the Bulldogs were awarded a 19-0 win.
The Muskie Touchdown Club is to hold a meeting this evening, with Fort High’s athletic director to be on hand, to discuss the team’s future.
Parents also have been invited to attend.
The Muskies’ next game is scheduled for this Friday (Sept. 14) at 4 p.m. against the host Tec Voc Hornets but it remains to be seen if it also will have to be forfeited.
The Times will provide updates as this story develops.
