After a tough day Saturday, both the Muskie boys’ and girls ’soccer teams wrapped up their respective tournaments in Kenora with victories Sunday.
The Muskie boys finished with a 2-2 mark after a 2-1 win over Spring Christian Academy (Winnipeg) and a 1-0 triumph versus the host Broncos, with Brandon McGinnis providing the offence in both victories.
It was a different story Saturday, however, as the black-and-gold were blanked 2-0 by Miles Mac (Winnipeg) and 3-0 by St. Thomas Aquinas (Kenora).
The Muskie girls, meanwhile, rebounded from a pair of tough losses with a 1-0 triumph over the Dryden Eagles yesterday afternoon, with Angela Cole scoring the goal.
The squad had dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to the Broncos in extra time, which followed a 1-0 loss on penalty kicks to St. Thomas Aquinas.
Both Muskie squads will resume NorWOSSA league play on Wednesday, when they head to Dryden for their second match day of the season.
The boys currently lead the three-team loop with a 2-0 record while the girls sit in third place with an 0-1-1 mark.
