Muskies earn tie, loss on road against Eagles

They were working overtime, but couldn’t quite take care of business.
The Muskie boys’ hockey squad had to come back four different times to salvage a 4-4 overtime tie against the host Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action last night.
David Pierce scored twice for the Muskies (3-0-1) to bump his team-high total to nine for the season. Steven Sus and Lucas Romaniuk added a goal each.
Meanwhile, the bumpy road for the Muskie girls’ hockey team threw another unkind pothole in the squad’s way as the Eagles thumped Fort High 9-0 up there last night.
The Muskies (0-2) have yet to score in NorWOSSA play, and that task won’t get any easier with the loss of forward Kristin Roehrig to an arm injury after she took a hit in the second period last night.
Roehrig scored the Muskies’ lone goal in a 2-1 exhibition loss to the Lake of the Woods (Baudette) Bears here Friday night. On a brighter note, Fort High did earn a 3-1 exhibition victory Monday night against the host Roseau Rams.
Hannah Firth registered a goal and an assist while Krystine Marchuk and Stephanie Strachan added singles in that one.
