The Muskie boys’ hockey team throttled the competition during four exhibition games over the weekend at the Ice for Kids Arena.
The black-and-gold defeated the Green Bay Bobcats and Shattuck St. Mary’s Sabres twice each en route to a 4-0 record.
The Muskies answered any questions about whether they would be able to generate enough offence this season by outscoring their opponents 27-7 over the four games.
Fort High got the ball rolling Friday night with a 7-2 win over the Sabres. The game was close going into the third, but the Muskies pulled away thanks to four goals in the final period.
On Saturday evening, the Muskies wore down an undermanned Green Bay Bobcats squad en route to an easy 7-1 victory.
The Muskies then faced both the Bobcats and Sabres for a second time in back-to-back games Sunday morning—doubing Green Bay 4-2 and dumping the Sabres 9-2 in the finale.
Meanwhile, the Fort Frances Canadians struggled with penalties in their losses to the Sabres and Bobcats on the weekend.
The Canadians lost a 5-4 heart-breaker to the Bobcats on Friday night, in which Green Bay scored the go-ahead goal with less than four minutes left in regulation time.
The Sabres then took the play to the Canadians on Saturday afternoon, skating to a 4-1 victory.
