Muskies do well in Thunder Bay

Although the regular season doesn’t start until tomorrow in Dryden, the Muskie court teams already are in full swing.
The senior teams anyway.
The Muskie senior boys’ volleyball team, in Thunder Bay over the weekend for the Thunderwolves tournament, won three of their four round-robin matches to take first place in their pool.
But they were narrowly beaten 26-24 and 25-23 by the St. Ignatius Falcons in the playoffs.
Muskies David Fagerdahl and Scott Gurski were named tournament all-stars.
Meanwhile, the Muskie senior girls’ basketball team also was in Thunder Bay for the Winston Churchill Invitational tournament.
They lost their first game 38-30 to the St. Ignatius Falcons, but bounced back Saturday with a 30-13 romp over Westgate Tigers to put them in the consolation final against the Dryden Eagles.
The black-and-gold narrowly lost that game 24-21.
