Muskies claim NorWOSSA crowns

The Muskie soccer squads are NWOSSAA bound once again.
Both won their NorWOSSA finals Thursday afternoon in Kenora, with the girls routing St. Thomas Aquinas 9-0 while the boys upended Rainy River by a 4-1 score.
The Muskie girls will host NWOSSAA next Saturday (May 29) while the boys will head on the road, though neither team knows who their opponents will be yet.
The boys advanced to the final after dumping Sioux Lookout 8-0 in the semi-finals Thursday morning. They had beaten the host Broncos 3-1 and Dryden 3-0 in pool play Wednesday.
The girls, who had not played a competitive game since mid-April, beat Dryden 4-1 in their semi-final Thursday morning after winning both their pool games on Wednesday (3-0 against Dryden and 4-0 over the Broncos).
Thunder Bay was to decide its NWOSSAA berths Friday.
The North Shore teams already may have played off, but Muskie boys’ assistant coach Shane Beckett had not heard any results as of Friday morning.
