Muskies boys sweep Broncos

Bring on the Eagles!
The Muskie boys’ hockey team dumped the Kenora Broncos 5-1 there last night to sweep their best-of-three NorWOSSA semi-final and advance to the league final against the Dryden Eagles.
Game 1 of that best-of-three showdown goes here Friday—likely sometime in the late afternoon as the Thunder already are scheduled to play in the Ice for Kids Arena that night.
The second game would be played in Dryden, with Game 3 (if necessary) back here early next week.
The winner advances to the all-Ontarios on March 24-27 in London.
Kurtis Wepruk led the Muskies with three goals, including the game-winner, last night in Kenora. David Pierce and Steven Sus also scored for the black-and-gold.
Jason Green stopped 28 shots for the win, as well as picking up an assist. Fort High, meanwhile, fired 44 shots at the Bronco net.
The Muskies went two for nine on the power play. Kenora’s lone goal was a power-play tally, but couldn’t do so on their other nine chances with the man advantage.
The black-and-gold had opened the series with an easy 8-1 win here Friday. Justin Larson led the way with two goals and a pair of assists.
Josh Sigurdson and Greg Flewelling each added a goal and an assist.
The Eagles advanced to the NorWOSSA final after sweeping the Red Lake Rams in their semi-final series last weekend.
Before last night’s game against the Broncos, Muskie head coach Shane Bliss was reluctant to look ahead to a Dryden match-up before Kenora was out of the way.
“We shouldn’t be thinking of Dryden,” he said. “We’ve got to get rid of Kenora first.”
Whenever their next game is scheduled, Bliss is looking forward to getting lots of fan support out to cheer on his charges.
