Muskie ties for seventh

The future is bright for the Muskie golf program.
Kendyn Faragher ensured that fact by finishing in a five-way tie for seventh in the boys’ division at the NWOSSAA golf championships at Strathcona Golf Course in Thunder Bay yesterday.
His round of 86 topped the Muskie contingent.
“I was lucky enough to get assigned to his group as a course marshal so I got to follow him all day,” noted Muskie golf coach Brian Johnstone.
“And he could have been a whole lot better if his putter had behaved better than it did,” Johnstone added.
Jeremy Kirk of St. Patrick’s High School (Thunder Bay) captured the 56-player boys’ division with a 75.
Cam Zappitelli (Dryden) and Owen Stebnitsky (St. Thomas Aquinas) tied for second at 79.
Meanwhile, Muskie Austin Geurts was part of a five-way tie for 30th after carding a 95.
Teammate Sheldon Jourdain Jr. shot 100 to land in a three-way tie for 40th.
Tyson-Skylar Morrisseau, the only Muskie returnee to the NWOSSAA tournament from last season, had to withdraw after eight holes for what Johnstone called “health reasons.”
Morrisseau had injured his shoulder at the Muskies’ home meet Sept. 17 at Heron Landing.
But he tied for 11th last week at the NorWOSSA season-finale in Kenora to advance to NWOSSAA.
