Muskie squads battling Kenora

It will be a busy day for Muskie athletes against their Kenora counterparts.
All four court teams are in Kenora this afternoon for their fifth game of the NorWOSSA season.
The junior girls’ volleyball team sports the best record going into action today, sitting at 2-2. The junior boys’ basketball team is next at 1-3.
Both the senior girls’ and boys’ teams are still looking for their first win at the midway point of the campaign.
Then tonight, both Muskie hockey teams will host the Broncos at the Memorial Sports Centre.
The girls will face unbeaten Kenora starting at 7:15 p.m. in the Ice for Kids Arena.
The black-and-gold have been excellent in exhibition play so far this season, but still are looking for their first NorWOSSA win. They’re also hoping to rebound from a 6-2 loss to the Broncos last month.
The boys, meanwhile, will square off at 7:30 p.m. in the ’52 Canadians Arena.
They are coming off a dominating sweep of the Red Lake Rams over the weekend, outscoring their hosts 12-0 in the two games while outshooting them by a whopping 90-30 margin.
Those wins left the black-and-gold in second place behind the Dryden Eagles after 11 games with a 7-3-0-1 record. They are the league’s highest scoring team with 47 goals in that span (4.27 per game) while allowing just 19 (1.72 per game).
Dryden sits in first place with an 8-1-1-1 mark while Kenora is in third at 3-6-1-1. Red Lake rounds out the standings with a 3-8-0 record.
