As expected, the Fort Frances Muskies senior girls volleyball team didn’t get the most favourable ranking for the OFSAA ‘AA’ championship.
The black-and-gold have the No. 12 seed and are the third-highest rated team out of four in Pool ‘C’ of the 16-team tournament, which gets underway on Monday in Dryden.
The host Dryden Eagles, who beat the Muskies in a five-set classic in the NorWOSSA final on Feb. 20 in Dryden, earned the No. 9 seed and will be in Pool ‘B’.
Fort Frances begins play against the No. 5-ranked General Amherst Bulldogs (Amherstburg) on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
The Muskies’ second match of the day will come at 3 p.m. against the No. 15-seeded Southwood Sabres (Cambridge).
It will be a tough test for the Fort in their final preliminary-round match, as they will battle the No. 2-ranked College catholique Samuel-Genest Lasers (Ottawa) on Tuesday at noon.
All preliminary-round matches will be best-of-three affairs.
The top two teams from each pool advance to the quarter-finals, which begin on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The consolation quarter-finals, featuring the bottom two teams in each pool, start on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Next Wednesday will see the conclusion of the playoffs, with the championship game set for 5 p.m.
Each playoff match will be best-of-five matchups.
