The Muskie boys’ and girls’ soccer teams both are headed back to the all-Ontarios after posting shutout wins over the host Dryden Eagles in their respective NorWOSSA finals yesterday.
Ian Jodoin netted two goals in the first four minutes—and the boys never looked back in routing Dryden 8-0.
“I’m very proud of the kids,” said first-year head coach Chris Sinclair after the Muskies captured their sixth-straight NorWOSSA crown.
“They played good and every game this season, they did everything we asked of them and more,” he added.
Tyler VanUden also tallied twice for the Muskies, who led 5-0 at halftime.
James Gushulak, Max Williams, Cam Lidkea, and Caleb Koomans added singles.
Cole Kowalski earned the shutout in goal.
The Muskies now head to Kingsville for the OFSAA ‘AA’ boys’ tournament June 2-4.
Meanwhile, the Muskie girls’ squad got pushed much harder by the Eagles but used a first-half marker to eke out a 1-0 triumph for their third-straight league title.
Sydney Radigan, who had the game-winner in last year’s final against Dryden, did it again yesterday by converting Taylor Croswell’s cross into the Eagles’ 18-yard box in the 32nd minute.
Bryanna Dustin earned the shutout.
Fort High now will journey to North Bay for the OFSAA ‘AA’ girls’ playdowns, which also run June 2-4.
OFSAA seedings and pool listings will be announced in the coming days.
